On July 18, 2014, Toei launched the official Twitter account for the film in preparation for the start of screenings of the film. The account features the official film website and the official account of the web movie series, as well as messages from the cast, staff and director. The official account has over 834,000 followers, making it the most-followed official account for any movie in the live-action Saint Seiya series.[33] The Twitter account also featured a live session on July 19, and a group discussion on July 22. The live session, conducted on July 19, featured the voices of the cast, and the director, as well as Kurumada, Takayuki Hirao and Hiroyuki Yoshino from the Yoshiki band. The group discussion, conducted on July 22, featured Kurumada, the voice of the main villain Eris and the director, as well as Toei Animation's president Daigo Narita.

In the February 2015 issue of the Seiya and Zowie magazine, the film's official website was officially announced.[34] The website's first content was the official trailer: the trailer reveals the action, characters, some dialogue, and the themes of the film;[35] along with the trailer, the website also features a new full-body poster.[36] It also featured the theme song by Yoshiki Nishida for the film, which was later included on the film's soundtrack: the film's theme song was released on April 13, 2015.[37]

Elements of the story were planned by Masami Kurumada, while the general outline was created by the screenwriter Ryosuke Takahashi, also known for his work on the live-action adaptation of the anime/manga series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2004). Other staff involved include the director Tatsuya Ishihara, who also directed the second part of the Ghost in the Shell movie trilogy (2007-2009), and screenwriter Katsuhiro Otomo, whose credits include Kagemusha (1995) and Ringu (1998). Other staff involved include the producer Eiji Okada , who has worked on numerous TV series, films, and other entertainment projects, and the character designer Yumi Kondo , who has worked on the Kinnikuman anime series. Based on the original manga of the same name by Masami Kurumada and animated by Toei Animation, the film features four movies in the Curse of the golden Apples series, which were first released in July 2014 and have been a major success in Japan and overseas.
