There is a security concern for anyone who might click through the privilege escalation prompt in their browser. If you have private data (i.e., you clicked yes to this prompt), that data can be sent to Apple’s servers and pernicious JavaScript can be loaded on your system. This is, however, NOT the default behavior. It is also possible to escalate to root with JavaScript to compromise the browser (i.e., the user’s system). To protect against this, any sites you visit or extensions you interact with must be trusted.

Starting with Safari 12, macOS will alert users when working in restricted mode, requiring explicit confirmation to continue browsing. The user will have to click “Allow” to continue browsing and run untrusted code.

Logging in as root requires an administrator password. If no password is set, the root account will be disabled by default. Since disabling the root account is a security measure, any password you use as an administrator will work. However, if you wish to enable the root account, you must create a password, and you must log in as an administrator (or via the defaults system daemon) by entering the root account password when prompted.

You can remove the root account by using the discretionary access control list (DACL) (sometimes called Security & Privacy), found under Settings > Users & Groups. Under the Security & Privacy tab, select the root account, and then select the - button in the Login Items box. Click the Remove button in the dialog box.

This command by default prints the SHA1 fingerprint of a privatekey. If the -v option is specified, the key is printed inhuman-readable format, with additional information such as theowner, issuer, serial number, and any extensions.
