The Nintendo DSi, released in the U.S. and Canada on November 18, 2009, brought many new features and expanded functionality to the Nintendo DS system, including a front facing camera, a touch screen, built-in Wi-Fi, and a hard drive for game storage. However, there was a downside to the system: As in previous Nintendo handhelds, the Nintendo DSi could not play homebrew software, because of licensing issues with third parties. The DSi's built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, however, allowed for the re-releasing of homebrew software via an autoupdate option, which was released in a firmware update for the Nintendo DSi on June 1, 2010. The firmware update, version 1.0.1, can be downloaded from the Nintendo DSi Shop. The update allows DSi owners to play homebrew software, provided that the software is not purchased from the DSi Shop.[153]

The new firmware version 1.0.1 functions in the same manner as the DSi Shop; however, it adds an option to the Nintendo DSi Menu screen, in addition to including a new option to download system software updates. Additionally, the update includes a number of new features, including the following:

Several new features were included, including support for the emulation of the Nintendo DS's Internet Browser and the Nintendo DS's DSiWare system, which is used for DSi-enhanced games. If another hacker does this, then they will be able to put any game on the ps3 in a matter of minutes! and that means that Sony will be out of the console market for good. We have seen what happens when sony doesn't support games anymore. Nintendo is turning a profit, now it is time for Sony to do the same, or else they are dead.

I don't see the appeal of owning a Sony PS3, and I don't see the value of the PS3 as an entertainment device. Sony has become one of the most untrustworthy companies in the gaming industry in my eyes. 827ec27edc
